Description
Count of Empire 1808
July 4, 1765 (Chabannais) – March 9, 1840 (Paris)
Better maneuverer than tactician, he distinguished himself by becoming master, in 1793, of a whole regiment of Austrian grenadiers. Bold and courageous, he allowed his troops to plunder the city of Cordoba, which caused the fury of the Spaniards. Napoleon withdrew his confidence in him after the defeat of Baylen.
