Born in Fougère on August 18, 1759 – Died in Koenigsberg on December 29, 1812
Napoleon had known him when they both served as young artillery lieutenants in the La Fère regiment. The Emperor was very fond of him and always placed his trust in him. He distinguished himself in Eylau, Danzig, Friedland, Lobau Island as well as in Wagram.
In Austerlitz, he ordered to break the ice of a frozen lake with a cannon, thus precipitating the defeat of the Russian army.
