Description
General Anne Jean Marie René SAVARY
Born on 26 April 1774 and died on 2 June 1833.
General and then Minister of Police, Savary was one of the Emperor’s most trusted men, and was also an aide-de-camp in his early days. In his administration, he showed a zeal that was sometimes considered excessive.
Napoleon would say of him: “If we let him do it, he would soon set fire to France”.
