Description
Before the arrival of the British troops, King Santiago de Liniers decided that volunteers from the people of Buenos Aires would gather at the fort on September 15, 1806. More than 4,000 men appeared, who were to be enlisted in other military units.
It was the largest and most powerful unit recruited for the defense of Buenos Aires and, like the other urban military units formed, it had the privilege of electing its officers.
The Patricios Legion was composed of three battalions and the Regimental HQ, with 23 companies of 50 men each, with a total of 1,356 soldiers.
