Description

An uhlan is a horseman armed with a spear in Slavic and Germanic armies, similar to the lancer in French armies.

Polish uhlans became the model for many multipurpose cavalry units throughout Europe in the early 19th century. The name was later used by regiments of lancers in the French, Russian, Prussian, Saxon, Austrian and other armies.
