Marshal de MONCEY Bon-Adrien Jeannot
Duke of Conegliano 1808
Born in Palise on July 31, 1754 – Died in Paris on April 20, 1842
Qualified as “Model of all virtues” by Marshal Soult at his funeral. A man of honor and piety, he foiled several royalist conspiracies against the Emperor.
Very ill in 1840 when the ashes returned, he was carried along the procession route and declared at the end of the ceremony: “Now let’s go home to die”.
Napoleon said of him: “Moncey was an honest man”.
