Born in Sedan on November 17, 1765 – Died in Courcelles on September 25, 1840
“Alcestis Soldier” or “The Hero of Wagram”.
His two nicknames summarize on the one hand his integrity and high moral qualities and his bravery on the other hand, two horses are killed under him in Wagram.
In 1814, Napoleon declared him “Duke of Taranto, I have known you badly. I have showered so many favors on so many others who have forsaken and abandoned me”.
