Description

It is customary to say that Polish soldiers were among the bravest and most devoted to the Emperor. The soldiers of the Vistula Legion are no exception.

Initially Polish, the Vistula Legion was recalled to France by Napoleon in 1808 and officially joined the French army.
Commanded among others by General Poniatowski, the Vistula Legion served in most of the campaigns, be it the Italian, Spanish, Russian in 1812, German or the French campaign of 1814. Everywhere they fought hard, including the battle of Berezina, which almost wiped it out.

The unit was officially disbanded in 1815 and returned to Poland, taking with them the eagle that had been given to them during the Hundred Days.
