Born in Pondicherry on February 1, 1768 – Died in Paris on June 10, 1828
Bonaparte’s fellow student in 1784 and 1785 at the military school in Paris, Napoleon called him to his side as aide-de-camp.
He participated and distinguished himself at the siege of Maastricht in 1793. At Marengo in 1805 he was made Division General and then Marshal of France in 1823.
Later the Emperor entrusted him with numerous diplomatic missions to the Tsar.
