Description
At the beginning of the Empire, Neuchâtel formed a small principality that had been dependent on Prussia since 1707. The French victories of 1805 led to the awarding of the title of Sovereign Prince to Marshal Berthier on 30 March 1806.
Prince Alexander raises in May 1807, on Napoleon’s order, a Battalion to follow him to the French Army, and continues to have his territory protected by a local Militia of which the Guard of Honor is a part.
