“Marshal of the Spanish War”.
Suchet is the only marshal who served in Spain to have succeeded in pacifying Catalonia, the region entrusted to him.
Napoleon wrote of him: “If I had had two marshals like Suchet, I would not only have conquered Spain, but I would also have kept it. He set an example of strict probity and maintained discipline among his troops. »
