Marshal SUCHET Louis-Gabriel
Duke of Albufera 1812
Born in Lyon on 2 March 1770 – Died in St-Joseph on 3 January 1826
“Marshal of the Spanish War”.
Suchet is the only marshal who served in Spain to have succeeded in pacifying Catalonia, the region entrusted to him.
Napoleon wrote of him: “If I had had two marshals like Suchet, I would not only have conquered Spain, but I would also have kept it. He set an example of strict probity and maintained discipline among his troops. »
