Description

Better known as the “Scots Greys”, this regiment, whose men, regardless of rank, rode horses of the same grey or white coat, was unique in more than one respect :
It was the only Scottish cavalry regiment in the English army and the only one that continued to wear the hairy cap, conquered at Ramillies in the time of the Marlboroughs (1705). The regimental badge of the Scots Greys is decorated with the Napoleonic Eagle, in memory of the Eagle of the 45th Line Regiment conquered at Waterloo by Sergeant Ewart.
