Napoleon had nicknamed him “King Franconi”, an allusion to his whimsical outfits.
An outstanding horseman, he excelled in conducting maneuvers on the enemy’s rear. At the end of the Russian campaign, he preferred to devote himself to his Kingdom of Naples.
